Two Step Revolution Equine Assisted  Intensive Outpatient Program

The Next Step Behavioral Health is pleased to be able to provide an Intensive Outpatient Program that specializes in treating the complex needs of individuals, families and groups. Our unique program provides a targeted curriculum to help individuals and families that are experiencing a high level of distress that cannot be resolved through traditional treatment approaches. The aim of this program is to increase emotional/behavioral wellness and divert the need for advanced judicial involvement or long term residential/inpatient treatment. The program incorporates the philosophies of Equine Therapy in conjunction with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Equine Therapy:

Equine Therapy is a form of experiential therapy that emphasizes the interactions between our clients and horses with a counselor and handler present. Equine Therapy involves our clients engaging in activities such as riding, equestrian vaulting, and horsemanship with the horses that allows them to explore and process connected thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Sessions are about self-discovery, self-relations and having fun with horses. Our therapists work with our clients during the activity and after in order to identify behavior patterns and process thoughts and emotions. Equine therapy helps our clients develop self-confidence, self-control, accountability, responsibility, and self-confidence. It also allows for an innovative setting where our clients and therapists work to assess and treat a range of emotional and behavioral challenges.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a short-term form of behavioral treatment. It helps people problem-solve. CBT also reveals the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and the behaviors that follow. Through CBT, people learn that their perceptions directly influence how they respond to specific situations. In other words, a person’s thought process informs their behaviors and actions.
