Presenter Information: Jeff L. Cochran PhD & Ainsley Stephens

Professor of Counselor Education at the University of Tennessee. Author of two books, The Heart of Counseling (3rd edition) and Child-Centered Play Therapy (2nd edition). Ainsley Stephens is a counselor soon to be graduated with her MS specializing in CCPT.

Dr. Jeff Cochran will review the research base of child-centered play therapy (CCPT), explain theories that underlie the skills of CCPT and implications related to treatment goals and outcome measures, introduce the skills of CCPT and opportunities for further learning. Ainsley will provide examples of CCPT skills from her work within a CCPT research project with Jeff and Nancy Cochran.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will be able to:
- Identify child-centered play therapy (CCPT) research for a child 
  counseling context or problem area that is applicable to clients at   your practice
- Explain counseling theory underlying CCPT and implications for      treatment goals and outcome measures.
- Name and define at least three primary skills used in CCPT.
